Missouri – Several local shelters have sent out another plea for help as they reach the capacity limit and have been forced to turn away dogs and cats as they come to their front door. Some have gone down to taking only emergency cases on their animals.
Rescue One has reached over 500 animals in their care and is pleading with people to open their homes to animals for foster and adoption. They are saying that dog owners are returning their pets that they got during COVID-19. Some reasons they have been given are puppies growing up, financial situations have been changed, and they just aren’t home as much as they were. They are looking for volunteers, fosters, and adopters to help make it to where they can open up the doors again to animals in need. If you want to sign up and fill out forms to help them visit, https://rescueonespringfield.com or follow their Facebook page to get the latest updates and figure out which of our friends need a forever home.
Watching Over Whiskers, a cat shelter near Springfield is also asking for help for their animals. WOW now has a three-month waiting list for them to be able to take animals in. They said that all the cats are having kittens, people are bringing them into the shelter, and no one is fostering or adopting them out. They are simply out of the room to keep all the animals. If you are interested in helping out, you can fill out adoption or foster forms and/or donate by visiting, http://www.watchingoverwhiskers.org or you can follow their Facebook page to keep up with the shelter’s updates.
