Local County Ranks Third in Early Youth Portion of Firearms Deer Season

Preliminary data has come in from the Missouri Department of Conservation regarding the overall numbers from this year’s early youth portion of the firearms deer season, and one of our local counties ranked third in overall numbers of deer harvested.

The top counties were Franklin, coming in at 258, Osage with 224, and Texas County at 209. Focused specifically on numbers for our local counties, Douglas County came in at 156. Howell County was at 197. Oregon County was at 135. Ozark County is listed at 120. Shannon County ended with 155. Wright County numbers totaled up to 152.

Archery deer hunting season continues now through November 10th, will resume on November 22nd, and will continue until January 15th. In the break between the archery seasons, the November portion of the firearms season will take place.
