Local deputies thank Scooby-Doo and Blue for tracking skills that lead to arrest

West Plains, MO. – The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office offered thanks to cartoon dogs after tracking down a suspect who fled from deputies. The Sheriff’s Office Facebook page posted about the arrest that occurred on February 3rd, when they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Aaron Perry. After the deputies turned their patrol vehicle around to conduct the stop, Perry sped off, passing a vehicle on a curve to evade deputies.

Perry abandoned his vehicle at a nearby house, and deputies searched the area, only finding shoe impressions in the snow that disappeared into the woods. The vehicle was towed from the property and a firearm was located inside. Perry is a convicted felon and is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm.

The following day, deputies returned to the area and found similar shoe impressions in the snow near the area of the search. The footprints in the snow on a nearby dirt road led back to Perry’s residence, where the suspect was arrested without incident.

Comically, the Sheriff’s Facebook page noted that “Both deputies wanted to give credit to Blue’s Clues and Scooby-Doo for the development of their tracking abilities.”
