West Plains, MO. – On the April 15th City Council Meeting, 6 different local heroes were honored for the work they do for the city of West Plains.
West Plains Fire and Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Chris Sterner and West Plains Police Department Cheif Stephen Monticelli honored Fire Department Lieutenant Wayne Corimer and police department Corporal Brandon Stephens. They were awarded for their service, quick actions, and response when saving a man from a house fire in March of 2024.
Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Chris Sterner, Brett Wilcox, Jacob Barks, and Bud McMillen were all honored for saving the life of a man found unconscious on his floor. Sterner was off duty and out on March 22nd, when he received a 911 call of a non-responsive, non-breathing 49-year-old man. Sterner went to the man’s residence and performed CPR on the individual until his Fire Department coworkers, Wilcox, Barks, and McMillen, arrived at the scene.
