Local Law Enforcement Agencies Complete Crisis Intervention Training at OzH

West Plains, MO. – Ozarks Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Center recently conducted a special training for local law enforcement and others. The training class was a 40 hour course called “Crisis Intervention Training”, or CIT. The intended goal of this training is to better help those involved engage with and deescalate someone suffering from a mental health crisis.

Agencies involved in the training include the West Plains PD, Texas and Howell County Sheriff’s Offices, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Christos House. Sheriff Brent Campbell and his staff have participated in the training hosted in the Howell County area both times, and he has been quoted stating that a goal of his is to have all staff trained in crisis intervention.

Ozarks Healthcare’s BHC will host its next CIT training in Wight County this fall and can accommodate up to 30 participants. Organizations who may be interested in staff attending the CIT are encouraged may call Ozarks Healthcare’s BHC at 417-257-6762 for more information.
