Local West Plains Student Raising Funds to Play on Carnegie Hall Band in 2024

West Plains, MO. – A student from the West Plains School District band has been selected to play in New York at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in February 2024.

This news was announced just yesterday by West Plains Band Director Rocky Long through e-mail conveyance. The student selected via audition is Ell Bennington, a High School junior who plays the trombone. Director Long goes on to say in his address that Ell is in band leadership and has shown many great qualities throughout her student career.

This big news is hampered only by the fact that, while Ell has been selected, the financial needs of the trip have yet to be met. With that, Director Rocky Long has been asking the public to assist this student in a fund-raising effort. $2000 has already been raised, but the remaining $1100 needed still remains.

Those who wish to get involved should call Rocky Long by dialing 417-256-6150 ext. 2327, or by dialing 417-849-7022.
