Majority of Recent Licking Inmate Deaths Linked to Fentanyl

West Plains, MO. – Recent toxicology reports revealed that many of the recent deaths in August and September at the South Central Correctional Center in Licking were connected to a drug problem in the facility.

Toxicology reports were released that four of the death were related to overdoses. Demarco Washington, Oryon Guinn, Kaleb Smith, and Terrell Dawson had lethal levels of fentanyl in their system, with Dawson also having xylazine, an animal tranquilizer, and Smith having meth in their bodies at the time of autopsy.

A toxicology report is still pending for Robert Baker who died on September 25.

Two of the older inmates who died during that time, Jeffrey Bolden, age 55, and Roy Sinden, age 64, had died of stage 4 lung cancer.

Prison systems across the state are experiencing overdoses of fentanyl, but not all are fatal.
