Man Arrested After Beating Girlfriend and Breaking Multiple Bones

West Plains, MO. – A man was recently arrested after he beat his girlfriend’s face so badly it broke multiple bones around her eye and nose. 28-year-old Thomas Farrier was charged with 1st-degree property damage, 1st-degree domestic assault resulting in serious physical injury, and 2nd-degree domestic assault.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on August 7, 2024, the victim showed up in the lobby of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office and told the deputies that she had been beaten by her boyfriend during an altercation. During an interview, she stated that they had made a trip to Poplar Bluff and he had her stop multiple times along the ride for alcohol. He then got mad at her one time when she asked him to stop messing with all the buttons in her car. Farrier then started slapping her across the face and beating her until her eye was swollen shut and she had a cut that was bleeding. She stated that after this she didn’t speak in fear of starting another fight. When they got back to the residence, he started to hit her again causing her glasses to fly off. She got out of the vehicle and left but came back later to grab her phone and keys from her car. She found that they were not there and asked Farrier to give them back. When he did the phone was broken, with damage estimated to be at $1,000 or greater.

After the interview, the victim was checked up on and it was found that she suffered a broken nose and broken bones around her eye, which was still swollen shut. There was also bruising on her neck from him trying to choke her the night before. After getting a signed statement, deputies visited Farrier’s residence. When there, his mother told police that the girl was exaggerating, that it wasn’t his fault, and that he didn’t do it. Farrier’s grandmother told police that she saw the victim’s eye and that her grandson did do it. She then stated that she told the police she warned the victim a few weeks ago that “something like this would happen to her and that she should have left him already”.

Thomas Farrier is being held on a $75,000 bond.
