Man Guilty of Having Child Pornography Formally Sentenced

West Plains, MO. – The West Plains man who was arrested in 2021 for ownership of Child Pornography has been formally sentenced to Federal Prison as of May 12th.

The case stretches back to as far as December of 2020 with the discovery of files depicting child sexual abuse on servers from Google. The Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force traced the files back to a residence in West Plains, MO., where Kenneth L. Lannais was living.

In 2021, a search warrant was served, and several items were seized that contained additional files depicting child sexual abuse material.  In further interviews, Lannais had admitted to owning and viewing the material.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United State Attorney Stephanie Wan, and investigations were performed by the Southwest MO Cyber Crimes Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, and the West Plains Police Department
