A Fulton County man is sentenced in a murder that occurred over twenty years ago. Dennis Kingston confessed last year to killing David Stone. Stone was killed by a shot that was fired through a window of a home in Salem, Arkansas in 2004. Kingston was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the killing.
On August 25, 2004, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a
shooting call on Whippoorwill Road in Salem. Deputies found that David “Stony”
Stone had been shot and killed through the window of a residence belonging to
Leon King. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office and Arkansas State Police continued
to work the investigation.
In May of 2023 Detective Dale Weaver with the Fulton County Sheriff’s
Office took over the investigation of David Stone’s homicide. Detective Weaver
interviewed many persons of interest and examined tons of evidence that had been
collected during the investigation nearly 20 years ago. Detective Weaver was able
to locate more evidence and submitted every piece he could to the Arkansas State
Crime Lab.
On February 23, 2024, Detective Weaver interviewed Dennis Kingston
regarding the homicide. Detective Weaver had interviewed Kingston the week
prior, and believed Kingston to be the perpetrator of the crime. After the interview
today Dale Weaver arrested Dennis Kingston, after Kingston confessed to shooting
of David Stone through the window on that night in August of 2004.
The Fulton County Sheriff Jake Smith would like to thank all agencies
involved in this case and a special thank you to Detective Dale Weaver for his
determination, his due diligence and tremendous service to the citizens of Fulton
County that he serves.
