West Plains. MO. – The Howell County Sheriff’s Office and a SWAT team were called out for an event that occurred Thanksgiving Day on South 17, on the edges of West Plains.
The call for service was issued at 11:39am, with reports of a man in the roadway of Highway 17. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, they found an emotionally disturbed male who had doused themselves in gasoline; they had also threatened the lives of themselves and those around them. A SWAT team was called to handle the situation, as well as the West Plains Crisis Negotiator, Howell Rural Volunteer Fire Department, and South Howell County Ambulance.
SWAT team members managed to apprehend the individual before the arrival of the negotiator, and he was transported to the Ward in Ozarks Healthcare afterward. The arrest was made on proposed charges of terroristic threats, assault of a special victim x2, and armed criminal action.
No notable injuries have been reported in the event, and officials cleared the scene at roughly 1pm.
