Man Suffers Severe Injuries After Being Thrown From Vehicle During An Argument With Girlfriend

Ozark County, MO. – A man suffered serious injuries after getting thrown from a vehicle during a fight with his girlfriend.

According to the probable cause statement, the Ozark County Dispatch received a call of an individual being hit by a motor vehicle 6 miles west of Gainesville. When the Sheriff arrived on the scene, he saw the victim lying on the ground with obvious signs of bad head trauma. He spoke with a witness who said she observed the victim on the side of the vehicle holding on while Shannon Collins, his girlfriend, was operating the vehicle. When the victim got the door open, Collins accelerated the vehicle and quickly braked. This sent the victim flying from the vehicle and over the front where he landed on his head. Two witnesses stated they observed Collins circle back to the area and then leave the scene.

Collins was located 13 hours later and taken to Ozark County Jail to be held without bond. She is facing one charge of second-degree domestic assault and one charge of leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
