Dora, MO. – 52-year-old Gregory Hambelton, an Ozark County resident, was arrested following a high-speed chase on Sunday, June 30, 2024. This was Hambelton’s second arrest in 3 days. He is now facing charges of resisting arrest, fourth-degree assault, careless and imprudent driving, driving while his license is suspended, and operating a motorcycle when his license is not validated for such operations.
According to the probable cause affidavit, an Ozark County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw Hambelton operating a motorcycle near Dora. The deputy turned on his lights to conduct a traffic stop because he knew that Hambelton had a suspended driver’s license and no motorcycle endorsement, due to him being arrested on the same charges three days prior. Upon seeing the lights, Hambelton accelerated and reached speeds of 90 miles per hour before he was stopped on Missouri Route CC. He then refused to comply with the deputy’s commands and tried to record the encounter with the deputy on his phone.
The deputy warned Hambelton that he would get tased if he didn’t follow the command to put his hands behind his head. Hambleton instead got back on his bike and the deputy tased him and took him into custody.
Hambleton is being held at the Ozark County Jail.
