Mansfield Teen Injured in Highway U Crash

Ava, MO. – A 19-year-old driver from Mansfield has been seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on the morning of Sunday, February 12th.

This crash was investigated by Trooper C.A. Edens of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G, and was assisted by Sergeant L.S. Elliott and Douglas County Deputies. The time of the crash was 8:20am, and the location was Highway U, roughly 8 miles Northeast of Ava.

Hunter Weldon was the driver of a 2008 Ford F150, and was driving Northbound when he left the left side of the roadway. Weldon then struck a tree, totaling the truck. The driver was not using a safety device and was seriously injured in the accident.

Weldon was transported by air ambulance to Cox South in Springfield for treatment.
