As we enter another week of drought conditions, possible chances for rain seem to be popping up for later this week. But as it stands, area of Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas are still in D3 drought conditions.
In addition to that, it appears the U.S. Forest Service has elevated the Fire Danger level of the Mark Twain National forest to extreme. This means that while they haven’t banned campfires yet, that is subject to change as the week continues. They suggest that visitors do not use open flame at all, and that if you must have a fire, to use only something that can easily shut off, such as a gas burner.
They also go on to urge people to be very careful when putting out cigarette butts, to not park ones car in dry grass, and that any equipment you operate has appropriate spark arrestors.
