Vehicular Crash Injures Two Minors in Ava, MO.

Ava, MO. – Corporal D.J. Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol was the investigator on a crash that occurred on Thursday, December 29th in Douglas County.

The time of the accident was 10:20pm, and happened on Highway 14 inside the city limits of Ava. Joshua Swops, a 20-year-old from Ava, was the driver of a 2008 Mazda 3 that was totaled in the accident.

The investigation of the accident states that Swops traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. Despite the driver being uninjured in the accident, two 17-year-old minors from Ava sustained injuries. 1 male was inflicted with minor injuries, while a female sustained moderate injures, and was transported to Cox South in Springfield for treatment.

Neither the driver nor the teen passengers were wearing their safety devices during the accident.
