McDonald’s to celebrate teachers with FREE beverages and the launch of new Outstanding Educator Awards

Local McDonald’s restaurants will celebrate area teachers in a big way this September with a one-day free beverage offer and the launch of the new McDonald’s Teach it Forward Outstanding Educator Awards.

On September 15, teachers can enjoy a free Medium Hot or Iced Coffee or Large Soft Drink or Sweet Tea in the drive-thru from 6am to 7pm by showing a valid educator ID.

Also beginning September 16, community members can nominate outstanding teachers in grades K-12 for the McDonald’s Teach it Forward Outstanding Educator Awards. The award will honor educators who exhibit the ultimate dedication to their students and contribute to the improvement of education in our most challenging times. Nominations will be accepted online through October 16th at https://www.surveymonkey.com/teachitforward.

Winners of the outstanding educator award will each receive a $100 Visa gift card to use toward their classroom; a T-shirt; and certificate and McDonald’s coupons to “teach it forward” to parents with outstanding students throughout the year.

Local McDonald’s Owner/Operator and Missouri Advertising Co-Op President Andi Hilburn-Vaini says supporting teachers is always a top priority, but this year is more important than ever.

“Our teachers are constantly adapting to whatever is thrown at them, while making sure our students succeed,” said Hilburn. “We hope to make teachers across our community feel special with a free beverage, but on top of that, we’re excited to recognize those who go above and beyond for our students through the Outstanding Educator awards.”

In addition to funds for their classrooms and a Best Teacher Ever t-shirt, the McDonald’s Teach it Forward Outstanding Educator Award winners can recognize good behavior and academic success among their students with certificates and coupons for free McDonald’s items.

“We love the idea of paying it forward—or “teaching” it forward—to recognize students who are also working so hard to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of education today,” said Hilburn.
