MDC Posts Reward for Info on Shannon County Elk Poacher

Winona, MO. – The Missouri Department of Conservation is currently seeking information on someone who poached a bull elk near Klepzig Mill in the Winona area over the weekend.

This deceased bull elk was found by a local deer hunter, who then reported it to the MDC. Shannon County Conservation Agent Brad Hadley followed up on the information and located the body. The body appeared to have been shot and was left whole in a field. The carcass was taken to the MDC’s Central Regional Office for necropsy.

A $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons who shot the elk.

Any individual with information is asked to report it to the Operation Game Thief hotline at 800-392-1111. Callers can remain anonymous while reporting information.
