Message of Warning to the Public from the Arkansas State Drug Director

According to recent reports, a drug that is more lethal than fentanyl has been found within Arkansas. This information came from the Arkansas State Drug Director as he was interviewed in a news report last week from KATV.

The drug is called nitazene, it is defined as a synthetic opioid, and is being made in illegal labs. According to reports, this drug is up to three times more lethal than fentanyl, which has been an issue in recent years. Further statements say that nitazenes were found entering the US from China as early as 2019, and that multiple cases have been recorded for this year.

According to the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, nitazenes were developed around 60 years ago as an alternative to morphine, but because of their high potential for overdose, were never released and are illegal in the US.
