Mammoth Springs, AR. – If you are big into old military equipment or interesting history then Mammoth Springs has an event for you. On Saturday, May 4th, the Mammoth Spring State Park will be holding a Military Vehicle Display event at the state park from 10 to 2.
Right now they have 13 vehicles to display and 27 participants. Vehicles that are participating are 1/4 ton jeeps from the World War II, Korean War and Vietnam eras, a 3/4 ton M37 truck, 2 1/2 ton 6×6, and 1 to 2 World War II era command cars.
The vehicles are provided by the Arkansas MV Travelers, which is the Arkansas affiliate of the International Military Vehicle Preservation Association.
The Red Ball Convoy which will be displayed is a tribute to the Red Ball Convoy of WWII and a tribute to all veterans past and present. This convoy has run out of Fayetteville, Russellville, Clarksville, and Mena. The Red Ball Convoy wished to change its format and base it out of Mammoth Springs. Most people will begin arriving on Thursday, May 2nd. The convoy will then depart the park on Friday, May 3rd between 9 am and 9:30 am to do a loop run through Mammoth Springs, and down through Cherokee Village before heading back up. The same Friday there will be a chance to see them again when they plan a short run up to the Grand Gulf State Park.
Your last chance to see the Red Ball Convoy will be that Saturday when they have a display set up at the Mammoth Springs State Park. It will be free for the public to come and see the vehicles and talk with the owners.

HISTORY
The AR MVPA, also known as the AR “MV” Travelers, was established in September of 1991 by a small group of men in Hardy, Arkansas. It became an affiliate of the International MVPA in March 1992. The AR MVPA fluctuated in numbers and strength during the next eight years. In December of 2000, there was a membership of 19. With a drive for new members in 2002 the membership grew to over 100. By December 31, 2007, our membership expanded to 162. The club membership covers a substantial portion of Arkansas as well as numerous other states. During this same period, vehicle ownership has grown from approximately 40 to more than 500. Our vehicles are in various stages of restoration, ranging from “as found” to international convention show winners.
