Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt stated: “Joe Biden’s time in elected office is far past its expiration date. Biden’s three-and-a-half-year tenure in the White House has brought Americans crushing inflation, an abysmal foreign policy record, and a vastly unchecked expansion of the administrative state. Americans are ready for new leadership, not more of the same from Democrats – regardless of who they now scramble to nominate. Further, if Joe Biden isn’t fit enough to serve as a candidate after the primary, he isn’t fit to serve as president now.”

Missouri Senator Josh Hawley in response to Joe Biden’s withdrawal: “Then RESIGN your office. If you can’t run a mere political campaign, you can’t be President.”

Missouri House Minority Leader Crystal Quade in a statement to OzarksFirst: “I’m thankful for President Biden’s decades of dedication and service to our country, the expansion of benefits and services for our veterans, and for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that brought back billions of federal tax dollars to invest in Missouri’s infrastructure. While we wait for President Biden to address the nation and present a plan moving forward, I continue to be focused on issues affecting everyday Missourians, like making healthcare more accessible and affordable or ensuring Missourians have access to abortion and reproductive freedom.”

Missouri Congressman Eric Burlison in a statement: “Joe Biden has finally acknowledged what we have all been saying for the last 3 and a half years: He is not fit to be president. The debate exposed Biden and his handlers who have been covering up his mental decline from the American people. They must all be held accountable for it. We will never forget that Biden’s presidency has been a disaster for our country, and whoever they choose to replace him will not be any better. Make no mistake: If Biden is not fit enough to run for the presidency, he is definitely unfit to be the president. He must resign.”

Missouri Congressman Jason Smith: “Today’s action by the Democrat Party is about only one thing: power. When the Washington Democrat elites began to see that the American people were prepared to take their power away, they orchestrated an undemocratic handoff to Kamala Harris. In doing so, they proved that their campaign of “preserving democracy” was a sham. Democrat elites want you to ignore the fact that while they think Joe Biden is unfit to run, not a single one has called for him to resign. This is a party unworthy of the trust of the American people. We must elect President Trump this November to ensure the power is in the hands of the people, not the party bosses and power brokers.”

Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders: “Not fit to run for president, not fit to serve as president. Biden should resign immediately.”

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee: “Biden bails out saying he’s not able to be a candidate. But he thinks he’s able to still be President? I truly believe being President is harder than being a candidate. Unless he really HASN’T been functioning as President anyway, which isn’t the least bit comforting.”

Former President Bill Clinton and Former First Lady Hillary Clinton: “President Biden has capped his extraordinary career of service with a Presidency that has lifted America out of an unprecedented pandemic, created millions of new jobs, rebuilt a battered economy, strengthened our democracy, and restored our standing in the world. By any measure, he has advanced our founders’ charge to build a more perfect union and his own stated goal of restoring the soul of our nation. We join millions of Americans in thanking President Biden for all he has accomplished, standing up for America time and again, with his North Star always being what’s best for the country. We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her. We’ve lived through many ups and downs, but nothing has made us more worried for our country than the threat posed by a second Trump term. He has promised to be a dictator on day one, and the recent ruling by his servile Supreme Court will only embolden him to further shred the Constitution. Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends on it.”

Democratic Party of Arkansas in a statement: “Arkansas Democrats are incredibly proud of President Joe Biden today, not only for his responsive and selfless decision to step aside but also for his steadfast leadership and historic accomplishments as our President for the past four years. Thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration, more than $4 billion is being invested in Arkansas. Democrats will continue our commitment to working for a better Arkansas.”

Arkansas Congressman Steve Womack in a statement: “I’m not surprised by his decision. It was a foregone conclusion. The real question now is who do they turn to? A Harris candidacy is problematic given her ties to Biden and her failure as the Border Czar. Interesting days ahead, for sure, for Democrats. My recommendation to my fellow Republicans is to run hard on the issues facing everyday Americans—securing our border, lowering inflation, and making our country safer. Republicans need to remain united behind President Trump.”
