JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., December 14, 2023 – The Missouri Broadcasters Association announced Thursday that seven broadcasters will be inducted into the MBA Hall of Fame in 2024.
“This is a diverse class. We have newscasters, sportscasters, a meteorologist, an engineer and a talk show host. We have people from Kansas City, Springfield, Lebanon and St. Louis—each very deserving,” said MBA President/CEO Chad Mahoney. “I think the selection committee did a fantastic job.”
The inductees include:
- Joe Buck – A lifelong St. Louisan, Joe spent 16 years broadcasting Cardinals baseball on radio and TV. He is known nationally for his 26 years calling MLB and NFL games on FOX, and since 2022 as the voice of ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
- Bryan Busby – Bryan started as an intern in 1978 at KTVI in St. Louis, but it was only a few weeks before he was on air doing weekend weather. He worked in St. Louis for eight years before joining KMBC in Kansas City where he is currently the station’s Chief Meteorologist.
- Mike Claiborne – Mike has covered St. Louis sports since 1981 when he joined KMOX to co-host “Sports Open Line.” He has served in various on-air roles covering SLU and UMSL basketball, the Blues, the Rams and the Cardinals. Mike joined the Cardinals Radio Network in 2006.
- Steve Grant – A native of the Ozarks, Steve celebrates 50 years at Springfield’s KY3 in 2024 where he is the station’s noon and 6 p.m. anchor. Steve started broadcasting at age 15 on KTXR-FM in Springfield. He later became a KY3 intern and quickly rose through the ranks.
- Bob Moore – A dedicated longtime broadcast engineer, Bob has impacted broadcasters far beyond his home base of Lebanon where he owns Broadcast Communications Engineering. Bob also serves as Missouri’s EAS committee chairman and the MBA’s engineering consultant.
- Anne Peterson – Anne was a fixture at Kansas City’s KCTV from 1979 until 2003. Reports at the time called her the youngest female anchor in the nation at age 22. She and her co-anchor Wendall Anschutz would go on to hold the record (22 years) for the longest-running anchor team in America.
- Wendy Wiese – Wendy has been a St. Louis broadcaster for more than 35 years—at KMOX, KTRS and KETC. Wendy currently hosts the Jennifer and Wendy Show on KTRS with Jennifer Blome and is a panelist on the Donnybrook show on KETC.
“We look forward to inducting this new class during the MBA Hall of Fame ceremony in the spring,” Mahoney added. “All Missouri broadcasters are invited to the Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on Friday, May 31. We’ll be at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach.”
The Missouri Broadcasters Hall of Fame was launched in 2011. Past inductees and 2024 banquet information can be found at MissouriBroadcasters.org.
