Willow Springs, MO. – The Missouri Department of Agriculture Animal Care Facilities Act Program has announced the recipients of spay and neuter grants. They gave out a total of $27,000. These grant funds were designated to eligible organizations that provide low-cost spaying or neutering dogs and cats for pet owners who could not afford those services.
The grant money was generated from selling “I’m Pet Friendly” specialty license plates. The “I’m Pet Friendly” fund aims to provide grants to nonprofit organizations or governmental agencies to enable the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats to reduce the surplus of these animals in Missouri. Grants are distributed to selected agencies for their efforts through local and regional spay and neuter initiatives.
Two of the pet shelters that received money were the Friends of Ferals Pet Shelter and the Ozark Pet Rescue located in the Willow Springs area.
