Shannon County, MO. – To celebrate the April 2 reopening of the Twin Pines Conservation Education Center, the Missouri Department of Conservation is hosting its annual Heritage Day on April 13, 2024.
Heritage Day is a free annual event open to the public to celebrate the history of the Ozarks. There will be live music, naturalist-led activities, demonstrations, workshops, and a free fish fry served at 11 a.m. The activities listed during the event consist of wooden spoon carving, basket weaving, fly-tying, quilting, broom-making, a presentation by a flintlock gun maker, longbow carving, natural dyeing, and some classic children’s games. The is no registration required to attend the event. The workers will be dressed as characters and people from the past to help tell the story of the history of the Ozarks. Heritage Day attracts over 500 people every year.
