Missouri Jobs with Justice Condemns Passage of Senate Bill 22

Missouri Jobs with Justice has issued a strong rebuke of Senate Bill 22, which passed the Missouri legislature yesterday. In a letter sent today to Governor Mike Kehoe, the advocacy organization urged him to veto what it calls a “dangerous effort” by lawmakers to undermine voter rights and judicial integrity.

Senate Bill 22, dubbed the “Let Politicians Lie Act” by critics, would restrict the ability of courts to revise misleading or deceptive ballot language written by the legislature. Missouri Jobs with Justice argues this change is a direct assault on the state’s democratic process, giving partisan politicians unchecked authority to manipulate ballot measures and block initiatives they oppose.

Missouri Jobs with Justice and other civic organizations are calling on Governor Kehoe to reject the bill and uphold the rights of voters to fair and honest elections.

The Governor has not yet publicly indicated whether he will sign the bill into law.
