Missouri senators move further with Parents’ Bill of Rights legislation

Missouri senators see education and the push for a “Parents’ Bill of Rights” as a high-profile matter.

Senate Bills 4, 42 & 89 receive first-round Missouri Senate approval. The bills would create the Parents’ bill of Rights Act of 2023, which includes transparency on curricula and prevent schools from collecting biometric data without a parent’s consent, among others.

Sponsor, Sen. Andrew Koenig, R-Manchester, spoke on work done regarding the bill:

Senate Bills 4, 42 & 89 were combined into a single proposal last month.

Other sections of the bill are to prevent white guilt and force schools to post the names of all books that students are required to read under penalty of law.

Senator Barbara Anne Washington, D-Kansas City, spoke on talks taken with the bill:

The bill also includes modifications to attendance, transportation, student lunch funding, and a $ 3,000-paid patriotic and civics training program for teachers.

Senate Bills 4, 42 & 89 still need another “yes” vote before it would move to the Missouri House of Representatives for its consideration.
