Missouri Supreme Court Sides With Bailey And Over Rules Lower Court Issue For Release Of South Central Correctional Center Inmate

Missouri – 82-year-old Howard Roberts was sentenced to 20 years in prison for financial exploitation. He was accused of taking advantage of an elderly woman. Recently a lower court in Greene County overturned his sentence and ordered South Central Correctional Center to release him after finding evidence of his innocence. He was not released after the South Central Correctional Center warden received a call from Attorney General Andrew Bailey telling him not to release the inmate.

Andrew Bailey took the case to the Missouri Appeals Court which ended up siding with Bailey in his pursuit to keep Roberts locked up. Whether this case will be appealed is unknown at this time.

Andrew Bailey has tried to keep two others imprisoned after lower courts turned over their cases this year. Both Hemme and Dunn ended up being released after Bailey took the cases to the Missouri Supreme Court and Bailey got denied. This case is the first one this year that Bailey has tried to stop that the Court sided with him on.
