National Weather Service Surveyed Missouri Tornadoes From May 26th; Highest Ranked At EF-3

Missouri – The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a report of their survey on the damaging tornadoes that swept through several counties in southern Missouri on Sunday, May 26th.

To summarize the report, a total of 8 tornadoes were surveyed, with the strongest being categorized as an EF-3 tornado that touched down near Mountain View.

To go through each tornado that was surveyed, the Dade County, Bradleyville, Winona, and Buffalo tornadoes were ranked EF-0. The Wright County tornado was rated at EF-1 with a peak wind speed of 100mph. The Birch Tree tornado, which peaked at wind speeds of 125 miles per hour ranked at EF-2. The Mountain View tornado, as previously stated, ranked at EF-3, with an estimated peak wind speed of 138 miles per hour. The last tornado surveyed, listed as the Bendavis tornado, ranked at an EF-1 with a peak estimated wind speed of 100mph.

The Houston tornado has yet to be officially surveyed, and information will be posted as it becomes available.
