Governor Mike Parson issued an executive order on November 28th, marked 22-07, which extends Missouri’s drought alert until March of next year. This is intended to give time to address issues by the state’s Drought Assessment Committee.
While conditions have improved when compared to the summer, over 80% of Missouri is still dealing with abnormally dry conditions, and the effects that have rippled out from that.
The Drought Assessment Committee was activated back in July, which is a workgroup set up to “assess drought levels and work with impact teams on response and recovery recommendations”.
The executive order that activated the Committee was set to expire December 1st.
