Mountain Home Woman Arrested for Assault on Grandparents and Biting a Deputy

At approximately 3:06 am, Baxter County Deputies responded to a 911 call on County Road 158, Mountain Home, of a female who was threatening her grandparents with a knife. Deputies arrived and found the suspect in the front yard holding her 5-year-old child. 

While one deputy was speaking to the grandparents, the other deputy was speaking with the suspect. While the deputy was speaking with the suspect, she suddenly shoved the deputy in the chest. He told the suspect to set the child down, but she refused. The second deputy was able to take the child from the suspect, but the suspect kicked the child in the head. (no serious injury to the child) The suspect, began fighting with the officers, at one point biting of the deputies hard enough to draw blood. The suspect was dry stunned with a taser and the deputies were able to put her in handcuffs. She was transported to the Baxter County Detention Center without further incident.

April Leia Raymond, age 29 of Mountain Home is charged with:

Assault on a family member                     Class A Misdemeanor

Endangering the welfare of a minor        Class A Misdemeanor

Resisting Arrest                                          Class A Misdemeanor

Battery 2nd Degree on a Police Officer     Class D Felony

April Leia Raymond was booked in the Baxter County Detention Center and is being held on a bond of $15,000 pending her appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court on May 16, 2022
