On Tuesday, January 25th, the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce held a State of the Chamber address at the Community Center in Downtown Mountain View. Chamber Director Abbigail Lenhart introduced the 2022 Chamber of Commerce Board, and outlined the upcoming events planned for this year. First a festival is being planned for downtown Mountain View this spring on April 22-23. At the beginning of Summer there will be a small business passport promotion encouraging consumers to visit all of the small businesses Mountain View has to offer for a prize. The annual Pioneer Days Festival is planned for September 24th, and the Christmas Market will begin on December 9th and continue through the 10th with a downtown stroll and lighted Christmas Parade. Lenhart also announced an upcomping contest to redesign the Chamber of Commerce Billboard that is located on Highway 60. Next Mayor Donnie Pruitt outlined the grants that have been obtained and what the money is being used for. With many of the grants focusing on infrastructure and flood prevention. There are also grants of $150,000 per year from MODOT that are used for Airport improvements. Mayor Pruitt also mentioned that initial talks have begun with Beta Technologies about making the Mountain View Airport an electric aircraft charging station. Beta Technologies fly organs from Chicago to Bentonville Arkansas and Mountain View is in a good location as a charging point for these aircraft. The City is awaiting the release of funds from a grant that will allow them to repair the pool with a target opening date of July 4th, 2022. It was also announced that Bill Bolerjack gave a generous donation to the city for upgrades to Veterans park in downtown Mountain View. This will include new landscaping, lighting and other improvements necessary. To end the meeting Mayor Pruitt announced that he will not be seeking re-election on the upcoming ballot.
