MSHP Investigates Shannon County Campground Death

Eminence, MO. – The Missouri State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the death of a woman in remote Shannon County.

The woman was found dead on Wednesday, when she was reported to authorities by her boyfriend at the Eminence Sinclair gas station. The woman was identified at Mary McWilliams Fletcher, 69.

The pair has been camping 14 miles North of Eminence at the Sinking Creek campground, where there is no cell service. The boyfriend, John Herrelson, 78 of Gravois Mills, discovered Fletcher deceased after waking and travelled to the gas station to ask for help.

Sergeant Eddie Young of the Missouri State Highway Patrol gave us an official statement on the investigation.

Investigation is ongoing, but foul play is not expected.
