West Plains, MO. – A Mountain View man was arrested last week following a 9-1-1 Domestic Abuse call that turned into a high-speed chase that exited city limits. Chad Stephen Andrews, age 38, was taken into custody after wrecking his truck on a county road during the chase.
According to the probable cause statement, on November 2, 2022, an officer with the Mtn. View Police Department was responding to a 9-1-1 call on a domestic issue that involved a man hitting a woman in a white Dodge truck at The Anchor gas station and left the location, heading west on Highway 60.
Detective Stephen Schwien of the MVPD spotted the vehicle and began pursuit. The truck sped off, heading through the town, damaging the City Pool, and reaching speeds of 75 miles-per-hour by the Mtn. View Golf Course on Jackson Street. Pursuit continued out of city limits onto County Road 3100 with speeds of 85 mph. The truck crashed on CR 3100 shortly past the intersection of CR 3890, where Andrews was taken into custody.
According to the probable cause statement, Andrews appeared intoxicated and when asked about the woman, he stated he had dumped her at the gas station. Further investigation revealed that the woman was Andrews’ girlfriend and the fight began because she refused to let him drive the truck due to Andrews being drunk. She told authorities he had shoved her from the truck. Security video showed Andrews attempted to run over the woman as he left the parking lot.
Chad Andrews was charged with 1st and 3rd Degree Domestic Assault, Armed Criminal Action, Resisting Arrest by Fleeing, and Resisting with Arrest for a Felony. He was held on $50,000 bond and released on Nov. 3, 2022.
