Mtn. View man arrested for assaulting couple in their home

West Plains, MO. – A Mountain View man was arrested last week on accusations of unlawfully entering a home and assaulting the residents. 

Selvin Padillo Castro, age 45, was arrested on October 9, 2023, and has been charged with 1st-degree burglary and two counts of 3rd-degree assault.

According to the probable cause statement, the two victims, a man and a woman, were at home when they heard a knock on their door shortly before 10 p.m. on October 9th. When the woman opened the door, the assailant grabbed her by her throat and slammed against the door. The male resident went to defend the woman and began fighting with Selvin. The female resident was struck in the head multiple times as she attempted to break up the fight and Selvin’s girlfriend arrived and attempted to stop the fight. During the fight, Selvin grabbed a nearby cordless drill, striking the man with it and then throwing it. Eventually, the assailant’s girlfriend got him out of the home, and the residents shut and locked the door.

Officers with the Mountain View Police Department noted injuries on the two victims consistent with their stories. Police also collected Selvin’s cellphone at the residence.

Selvin Padillo Castro was held in the Howell County Jail and released on October 10, 2023, on a $10,000 surety bond. He will return to court on November 13, 2023.
