West Plains, MO. – A Mountain View, Missouri man has been charged following an incident where he allegedly stole a vehicle and injured a woman as he made his getaway.
Justin Kimble, age 39 of Mountain View, was arrested on Sunday, Nov. 12 and has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, 2nd-degree assault, and leaving the scene of an accident – physical injury.
According to the probable cause statement, Howell County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the West Plains area for a vehicle theft report. The victim told authorities that she had an argument with Kimble. She said he was intoxicated and was asked to leave the residence after attempting to start a fight with another man. The victim stated Kimble entered her silver Pontiac sedan without permission and attempted to leave the property. She said her sister attempted to reach through the window of the vehicle and stop Kimble, but he drove away, injuring the woman in the process.
Kimble then struck a tree while leaving the property, damaging the front bumper, and sped away. A deputy found the car’s bumper on the ground near the roadway by a dumpster and found Kimble walking around the parked Pontiac on BB Highway a short distance away. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Kimble is being held in the Howell County Jail with a bond of $5,000 cash or corporate surety.
