Mtn. View Police update COVID-19 measures

In the best interest of the health and safety of our community, the Mountain View Police Department is implementing the following precautionary measures in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These measures are in response to the existence of the State of Emergency that exists on both the State and National level as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the recommendations of the CDC.
Effective immediately, the Mountain View Police Department will be scaling back on responding to routine medical calls. The police will also take all non-emergency calls for service over the phone including but not limited to:
• Animal Complaints
• Private Property accidents
• Auto accidents with no injuries
• Phone/Social Media Harassment
• Fraud
• Harassment
• Juvenile Problems
• Miscellaneous Ordinance Violations
• Violations not in progress such as Peace Disturbance/ Property Damage and Theft
• Other non-emergency calls
• Calls involving civil matters.
When you request police services, dispatchers may ask additional questions to determine the
appropriate level of police response.
Each incident will be evaluated by dispatch, police supervisors, and responding officers to determine the type of police response you may receive.
Mountain View Officers will still be on patrol and will still respond to calls that are emergencies. If we respond to your residence, our officers or dispatch will ask that you meet officers outside and maintain a 6-10 foot minimum distance. With limited staffing, this effort is intended to limit officer exposure to potentially infected persons as much as possible while still providing police services and maintaining a healthy police department.
Instead of coming to the police station to report any issues, we ask that people contact dispatch first at 417-934-2525 to make your complaint over the phone Monday through Friday 0800-1600. If you need to fill out a complaint after office hours, leave your name and number with the nature of the complaint to dispatch and an officer will contact you. To speak to an officer in person you will need to call the above listed phone number to set up an appointment.
*Note because officers generally use their personal phones to call people back, you may see a call from a restricted or blocked number. If your phone does not allow restricted/ blocked calls or you would rather us call you from a landline please advise dispatch.
To fill out online statements or complaints please go to our website. Google search for MVPD.MO or type in https://sites.google.com/site/mountainviewpolicemo/ . Forms and complaints can be found at the bottom of the home page or by going to citizen resources. Email the form back to us at mvpd.gov@gmail.com. If you contact our office we can email you a fillable form. Our department will not ask for any sensitive information over the phone such as your driver’s license
number or social security numbers. When filling out your statements by email do not put your SSN or DL number on the forms.
For all emergencies please call 911.
