Howell County Deputy Sgt. Seth Smith and Corporal Travis Weaver attended the Law Enforcement Academy graduation of two new Howell County Deputy Recruits, Kory Taylor and Nick Barslow. Both recruits attended the 16-week Law Enforcement Training Academy, located in the Mills Anderson Justice Center on the campus of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri. Kory Taylor made Howell County proud as he received three of the four top awards in his class. He was awarded the top academic achievement award, top firearm achievement award and top recruit award. Both Kory Taylor and Nick Barslow will be sworn in on Monday December 16, 2024 with another new Howell County Deputy, Brandon Barnes.
