Norwood man seriously injured in two-vehicle crash near Mansfield

Mansfield, MO. – A Norwood man is recovering in a Springfield hospital following a two-vehicle crash near Mansfield. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the crash occurred Monday at 9:08 a.m. on Highway 5, one-and-a-half miles south of Mansfield.

A Jeep Cherokee driven by Kristin Gray, age 39, was stopped to make a left turn when it was struck from behind by a GMC Sierra driven by Austin Norwood, age 23. Gray had been wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. Norwood had not been wearing a seat belt and was seriously injured.

Norwood was taken by Lifeline helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. Gray was taken by private vehicle to a local clinic for her injuries. 

This crash was investigated by Trooper N. Poynter with the assistance of Sgt. L. Elliott, Troopers C. Edens and J. Sentman, and the Wright County Sheriff’s Department.
