OHRC to host poetry reading Oct. 17

WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Officials with the Ozarks Heritage Research Center (OHRC) at Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) will host a poetry reading with Dave Malone beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at the Garnett Library, 304 W. Trish Knight St., in West Plains.

Malone is a poet and screenwriter from the Missouri Ozarks. He holds a master’s degree from Indiana State University, where he was a Pfennig Scholar and worked with poet Matthew Brennan.

A three-time Pushcart Prize nominee and Plainsongs Poem Award winner, Malone is the author of eight books of poetry, including his most recent, “Bypass,” from Aldrich Press.
The multi-hyphenate creative co-wrote the short film “For Keeps,” which was a semifinalist for the 2022 Lake Travis Film Festival.

Malone currently lives in West Plains.

Organizers said refreshments will be served and copies of Malone’s “Bypass” will be available for purchase at the event.
