WEST PLAINS, Mo. — Ozarks Medical Center has been awarded primary stroke certification by Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP), the nation’s original independent accreditation program.
The certification confirms that the multidisciplinary stroke team at OMC is providing high-quality care as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.
OMC’s multidisciplinary stroke team is made up of nurses, physicians, neurologists, ambulance services, therapists, and Emergency Department personnel who respond to stroke. Stroke is an emergency where every minute counts. People need to be aware and call 911.
The signs of stroke are easy to remember using the acronym FAST (face, arm, speech, time): Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulty and Time to call 911.
