As the number of new COVID-19 cases in Missouri reaches an all-time high, public health experts with the One for All Missouri campaign would like to share the following guidelines to help Missourians stop the spread.
- This is a critical time to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Missouri. We need to do everything
possible to save lives and reduce the burden on our healthcare system.
-
- Stay home as much as possible.
- Practice physical distancing inside and outside.
- Wear a cloth face covering or mask when you are around other people.
- Wash your hands often.
- Stay home if you’re feeling sick or believe that you have been exposed to COVID-19
- If you get together with family or friends, make plans to keep everyone safe.
- Limit gatherings to small groups of people.
- Bring your own precooked meals instead of sharing food.
- Gather outside where you have space for physical distancing.
- Wear a mask over your nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with people you do not live with.
- Get your flu shot as soon as possible.
- Flu viruses are most common in the fall and winter.
- The flu and COVID-19 can have similar symptoms. By preventing the spread of the flu, we can decrease the number of people who need to be quarantined and tested for these symptoms.
- Getting a flu vaccine protects you and the people around you. As more people are vaccinated, it is harder for the flu virus to spread in the community.
- Between 140,000 and 810,000 Americans are hospitalized for the flu each year, and the flu can kill more than 2,000 Missourians annually. We need to do everything we can to decrease the spread of both flu and COVID-19 to reduce the burden on hospitals and healthcare workers.
