Over the next few weeks, counties around Missouri will host their annual festivals and fairs. Public health experts with the One for All Missouri campaign would like to remind Missourians that attending these large events increases the risk of catching and spreading COVID-19. Following the guidelines below can help reduce these risks and stop the spread when attending a fair.
- Practice physical distancing and avoid crowded areas.
- Consider visiting the fair at less busy times to make it easier to practice physical distancing.
- Wear a face covering or mask to reduce the risk that you will unknowingly spread COVID-19 to those around you.
- Face masks are especially important in areas where it is difficult to stay more than six feet away from others.
- Masks should fully cover your nose and mouth.
- Children two years old or younger should not wear a mask.
- Protect young children who cannot wear masks by keeping a respectful distance.
- Wash your hands often, especially before eating and drinking.
- Pack a summer safety kit with everything you need to stop the spread at the fair.
- Your kit should include hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, tissues and a clean face mask.
- Don’t forget to pack your usual summer safety items like bug spray, sunscreen and plenty of water.
- Before you go, check the event’s website for details on safety precautions, mask requirements, crowd size limits, cancellations and any other helpful information.
