One Individual Arrested for Drug-Fueled Assault, Property Damage, Attempted Escape

Pontiac, MO. – The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office released information to the public recently about an individual who went on a small, drug-fueled rampage at the Pontiac Marina on July 14th, which ended in his arrest, attempted escape, and second arrest.

The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at the Marina to a call of an erratic individual who was damaging property. On arrival, it was found an assault had also occurred and the suspect, identified as Edward Malyk, was under the influence of drugs.

Malyk was taken into custody and suspected cocaine was located in his vehicle. During investigation, Malyk took advantage of a window in the vehicle and crawled out, attempting to escape while in cuffs. Barefoot, handcuffed, and in the dark of rural Ozark County, Malyk was taken into custody again shortly after.

Arrest charges include Property Damage, Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of a Controlled Substance and Paraphernalia. Formal charges appear to be pending.
