Cabool, MO. – A traffic accident that killed a Willow Springs man occurred near Cabool early today just after midnight.
Shelman Coen, 18 of Cabool, was the driver of a 1995 Jeep Cherokee that traveled off the right side of Highway U and overturned. While injuries for the driver were minor, the crash resulted in the fatality of the passenger, Ian Smart, 20 of Willow Springs. In the following investigation of the crash, Coen was found to be intoxicated while driving, and was charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated – Manslaughter.

This incident was investigated by Trooper C.L. Goodwin, and was assisted by Sergeant B.C. Gruben, and marks the second traffic fatality investigated by Troop G this year.
