MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — The Baxter County Library has several online resources for parents and teachers.
The library’s website, www.baxlib.org, provides web-based applications such as TumbleBooks and TumbleMath, Brainfuse, ProQuest, World Book, and Mango Languages that are perfect for students who may need assistance in any subject.
TumbleBooks and TumbleMath use audio/visual style learning to teach math and other subjects in the form of a storybook. Children will read along and help solve problems along the way. It is a fantastic way for the kids to engage with the lessons.
TumbleMath has basic math lessons like addition or subtraction and, for a little bit more of a challenge, your kids could be learning about fractions as well. Another great benefit of the TumbleMath program is the tools for the parents and teachers. After each story, kids can take a short quiz to make sure they have paid attention and learned something along the way. You can even track your child’s quiz results and see them improve over time.
Brainfuse is one of the nation’s leading online tutoring providers for students of all ages. Brainfuse offers live online tutoring for any subject, from AP Biology to the SAT. Live tutoring is available daily from 2-11 pm. The online tutors that are matched up with your students are all tested and qualified experts, and in the event of a disconnection, another tutor will be available to take over so your child can always get the help they need.
World Book and ProQuest both offer age-appropriate content for use in research designed to encourage learning. World Book Kids includes thousands of articles and biographies to develop curiosity in young learners. World Book Advanced contains up-to-the-minute access to worldwide news publications for students to develop advanced research techniques, and ProQuest contains high-quality databases and interactive media to build writing, language, and computer skills. World Book and ProQuest are both essential tools for developing good research habits and preparing students for their future.
Mango Languages is one of the most popular language and culture learning systems around the world and is a great resource to prepare your students and expand their cultural knowledge. Mango learns how to best teach your student and adapts to their individual learning style, so learning pronunciation and grammar will come naturally.
The Baxter County Library is thrilled to be able to offer these amazing tools to the students of the community. They are available free on the Baxter County Library Student Portal page accessible on the website at www.baxlib.org with a valid Baxter County Library card or Tech Card.
