Birthday Blessings is having a donor match fundraiser October 1-3. This is Part 2 of their Annual Birthday Bash. They normally just do it once in April. This year has been an uncertain time for everyone so they announced they would be doing a Part 2 in October. An anonymous donor offered to match up to $5000 in donations in April. They didn’t utilize the full amount so they are hoping to meet that goal during Part 2.
Donations will be used to meet needs of Missouri foster kids in 16 counties through a variety of programs. These include birthday bags, graduation gifts, COVID care packages, baskets of household goods for teens transitioning to independent living, care packages for kids living in residential facilities and to meet special needs on an individual basis.
“Our kids have a variety of needs that aren’t covered by the government,” said Shannon VonAllmen, founder of the organization. “Our goal is to meet those physical and emotional needs, while providing a sense of normalcy for kids in care. This event is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable kids.”
“Our kids have trauma. Heartbreaking trauma. While we can’t fix any of that, we can let them know someone cares about them and be an example of kindness. This can be something as simple as the handwritten birthday card we put in every birthday bag. Or, providing a new pillow or blanket so a foster child can have familiar bedding to take from home to home.” she said.
The 501c3 organization is happy to take one-time donations of any amount. You can also join their #FOSTERLOVE Team by setting up a recurring monthly donation. They have credit card and Paypal options on their website at birthday-blessings.org. Checks can be mailed to Birthday Blessings, 429 Aid Ave, West Plains MO 65775.
