Ozark County, MO. – One of the primary points of focus for the Ozark County election this years was on an oft-spoken of issue: funding for the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office.
On the ballot, a proposal could be seen to enact a half-cent sales tax on purchases within the county. When the Ozark County Sheriff and Prosecuting Attorney spoke with us previously, they stated that the amount to be gained from this proposal would estimate at roughly $400,000.
During last nights election, the sales tax appears to have passed in an overwhelming victory, with nearly double (2398 for yes, 1266 for no) the voting citizens being in favor.
Ozark County Sheriff Cass Martin has stated that their first area of improvement after the passing of this sales tax would be reinstating officers and staff, and bringing pay up for those they hire to remain competitive in the field.
