Ozark Spring DAR to Honor Black History Month at February Meeting

WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI: Ozark Spring Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
(NSDAR) members will meet at 1:00pm at the American Legion Hall, 1401 Bill Virdon Blvd., West Plains on
Saturday, February 1. In addition to the regular business meeting, Crockett Oaks III will present the
program “”Lincoln School’s Legacy of Service: Honoring Soldiers from WWI to the Gulf War.” The program
will chronicle how the historic Lincoln School shaped the lives of many young men who went on to serve with
honor in the U.S. military. From the trenches of World War I to the battlefields of Vietnam and the Gulf War,
Lincoln School alumni have played a vital role in defending freedom at home and abroad. This presentation will
highlight their stories, sacrifices, and enduring legacy, ensuring their contributions are remembered for
generations to come.

A biography of the speaker includes the following; Crockett W. Oaks III is a retired U.S. Army Colonel with
over three decades of distinguished service in emergency management and security operations. A former FBI
Special Agent and corporate security executive, he has worked across government, law enforcement, and
private sectors. Currently serving as the Associate Vice Chancellor of Business Services at Missouri State
University, he is also the co-founder of the Lincoln School Project, dedicated to preserving and sharing the
history of this historic Black school in rural Missouri. His commitment to honoring the past and educating the
future continues to shape his work in the community.

Chapter members are honored to have Colonel Oaks as speaker and invites to attend the program portion of the
meeting. Additionally, Ozark Spring Chapter, NSDAR, is a non-profit genealogical society whose members
have proved direct lineal descent from patriots who served or provided goods in the American Revolution. The
motto for the organization is God, Home, Country, and its chief purpose is to support the pillars of Historic
Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. Women who are 18 years of age or older and can prove direct lineal
descent of an American Revolution War patriot are eligible to apply for membership into the organization.
