Ozarks experts speak at Mtn. Home library

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — As a part of the Baxter County Library’s Read | Write | Ignite at the Hearthside Literary Series, the library hosted two presentations by expert authors on the Arkansas Ozarks.

On October 9 Dr. Phillip Howerton presented his published work “The Literature of the Ozarks”.

On October 20 Dr. Brooks Blevins presented his published work A History of the Ozarks, Volume 2: The Conflicted Ozarks. Blevins is the Noel Boyd Professor of Ozarks Studies at Missouri State University and author or editor of nine books, including A History of the Ozarks, Volume 1: The Old Ozarks; Ghost of the Ozarks: Murder and Memory in the Upland South; and Arkansas, Arkansaw: How Bear Hunters, Hillbillies, and Good Ol’ Boys Defined a State.
