WEST PLAINS, MO – As of May 1, Ozarks Family Care joined Ozarks Healthcare and is transitioning its name to Ozarks Healthcare Family Care. The group of medical providers will continue to offer a full range of healthcare services for those of all ages at its current location of 1307 Porter Wagoner Blvd.
“Opportunity to truly make a positive impact on a large scale affecting thousands of people is rare,” Dr. Scott Roush, Ozarks Healthcare Family Care, said. “When it occurs, sometimes, difficult decisions must be made. Pride, tradition, and fear of change must be bridled. We were presented an opportunity from Ozarks Healthcare to improve the healthcare of not only our local town, but all of south-central Missouri. After numerous discussions, it was felt the best way to achieve our goals was to join forces in a united effort to navigate the multiple directions medical care is moving. It is an exciting endeavor, but daunting as well, and many challenges lay ahead. I look forward to the challenging work that is coming and the reward of seeing the health and productivity of a community evolve and improve. Please join with us on this journey and know that your individual medical care is still the most important end result of what we do.”
Ozarks Healthcare Family Care providers, including Roush, Dr. Jason Spurling, Dr. John Washburn, and family nurse practitioners Jamie Parrott and Lisa Wade, are certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and have years of experience they are adding to Ozarks Healthcare’s Medical Group.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Ozarks Family Care team of caregivers to Ozarks Healthcare,” Tom Keller, Ozarks Healthcare President and CEO, said. “Their experience and compassion are well-known in our community, and we are honored to add the skills of their providers and staff to our team. Together, we will add to our capacity of serving our community under one unified health system with multiple specialties. We anticipate being able to grow our focus on our community’s health with combined compassionate care from both organizations.”
“When Tom Keller [Ozarks Healthcare President and CEO] and Todd Tamalunas [Vice President of Ozarks Healthcare’s Medical Group] approached us almost a year ago about this partnership, we understandably had our reservations,” Spurling said. “At the same time, the positive change in the direction of this organization is evident by the great administrative team and the breadth of very talented physicians, nurses, and support staff that they have put together. We have been blessed that so many in this community have entrusted us with their care, and we do not take that lightly. In this ever-changing healthcare environment, we are convinced that the time is right to partner together with Ozarks Healthcare to share resources and expertise, which will take primary care in this community to the next level. I am extremely proud of our exceptional team here at Ozarks Family Care, whom with their selfless dedication, compassion, and drive will be joining with us in furthering our ministry to serve our community.”
Ozarks Healthcare family medicine providers work as a team to care for patients using their collective expertise. They also manage patients’ electronic medical records, medications, and screenings. Family medicine providers are able to provide expert diagnoses, treatments, and ongoing care for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
“By joining Ozarks Healthcare, Ozarks Family Care’s patients will benefit by having their medical records seamlessly added to Ozarks Healthcare’s single electronic health record system,” Keller said. “This will simplify access to any specialty services at Ozarks Healthcare needed. Our community is fortunate to have leaders from both Ozarks Family Care and Ozarks Healthcare working together to grow for our community and provide a seamless continuum of care.”
“My family and I moved to West Plains seven years ago and have felt very welcomed by the community,” Washburn said. “We’ve had two children at Ozarks Healthcare, and our family has needed care in the hospital on multiple different occasions. We have received outstanding care, and we personally understand the need for an excellent community hospital. As we plan to transition towards working with Ozarks Healthcare, I am excited to do my part in continuing to serve the communities healthcare needs. I know that concerns can come with any change, but our goal will be to continue to provide excellent care to our patients and that with the resources that OZH can provide, we can provide further benefits that aren’t currently offered. I ask for patience as we work through this transition.”
